Curious About a Career in Film and Media?

If you are 19 to 24 years old, currently unemployed or underemployed, with an interest in filmmaking and no plans to return to school in September, then you may be eligible to be a part of the POV Filmmaking Program this summer.

You will learn the technical and business skills of the industry. As part of a small crew, you will help write, direct and shoot a movie that will be debuted at a special industry screening.

You will get to meet and learn from a variety of professionals currently working in the industry, from music video directors, to screenwriters to music composers.

The POV program is intense and requires dedication. It starts in June and runs every Saturday throughout the summer. If you are up for the challenge, we welcome your application.

Our program provides students with a weekly stipend for their participation, with a completion bonus at the end. For promising students, we offer paid internships in the industry.

Summer 2009

We are currently accepting applications for this summer's POV Filmmaking Program.

Over the course of thirteen weekends, ten eligible students will learn the basics in filmmaking while making their own films. Under the guidance of industry professionals, students will work in teams to write, direct, shoot and score their own work.

The program runs every Saturday, with occasional evening events, from mid June through to end of August.

To be eligible, applicants must be:

  • Between the ages of 19-24
  • Unemployed or underemployed
  • Identify as at-risk
  • Have no plans to return to school in the fall.

Priority is given to applicants living in one of Toronto's under-served communities.

The program aims to support youth who are economically disadvantaged. There is no fee for taking the program. In fact, all participants will receive a stipend for completing the program.

Breaking News!

We are happy to announce that the Youth Film and Media Training Network and Presenting Our Vision (POV) have officially merged. Our partnership last year was so positive and successful that we decided to make our association permanent!

Over the coming weeks, this site will be updated to reflect the merge so stay tuend for many changes.  In the meantime, please be sure to watch the documentary of last summer's filmmaking program, as well as the two terrific films our talented students created.
